Client Spotlight: How Fit Body Boot Camp Louisville Built A Sustainable Nutrition Coaching Program That Drives Results

When Steven Long opened the first Fit Body Boot Camp location in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2017, he had one mission: to help people transform their health through fitness. Today, Steven owns three thriving Fit Body Boot Camp locations serving over 1,200 members.
From the start, his team has been the backbone of that growth. Amanda Young has been with Fit Body Bootcamp for seven years, starting as a client coordinator and now serving as the Lead Nutrition Coach. Nikki Barringer, the General Manager, has been on the team for six years, overseeing operations and ensuring consistency across all three locations.
Together, this leadership team knew that while their fitness program was strong, their nutrition program needed a new approach. That’s why they enrolled in Healthy Steps Nutrition Mentoring (HSN)—and within just three months, they’ve already seen powerful results.

The Challenge: Why Challenges and Macros Weren’t Enough

Like most gym owners, Fit Body Boot Camp Louisville started its nutrition effort with challenges. These sparked interest and delivered quick wins, but once the challenge ended, members often slipped back into old habits.
Looking for something more sustainable, the team later expanded into a macro-focused app, paired with some group calls to add accountability. Eventually, they launched Bootcamp Plus, a macro-based option offered as a $10 weekly add-on.
Many clients upgraded, but the program wasn’t providing the individualized support members needed to see lasting results.

“A subset of people didn’t want to track macros, and we were failing them. We weren’t integrating a habit-based approach.” – Nikki, GM

Other issues began to surface:
  • Nutrition wasn’t consistent across the three locations, as it often relied on Nikki or Amanda to discuss nutrition.
  • Coaches were giving advice based on personal preferences, which left members confused and frustrated.
  • Members were paying only $10 per week for nutrition, but they weren’t receiving the accountability and support needed to build long-term habits.

They knew there had to be a better way to level up support, improve accountability, and drive real, lasting results.

The Transition to Habit-Based Coaching

The move toward a sustainable nutrition program began when Nikki attended the Gym Accelerator Summit, a live event powered by Healthy Steps Nutrition Mentoring. This annual event brings together gym owners from around the world to learn how to build and scale health-focused coaching programs that drive both results and revenue.
At the Summit, Nikki discovered the missing pieces their program needed:
  • Habit-based coaching frameworks
  • Structured accountability systems that extended beyond short-term challenges
  • Tools to support members outside the gym
  • Alignment across staff, so everyone spoke the same language
The transition didn’t happen overnight. Nikki went home from that first event inspired and started by creating her own habit-tracking cards to intentionally weave nutrition into the day-one new member experience.
As the program evolved, it became clear that a dedicated leader was needed. That’s when Amanda Young, who had been with the team for years as a client coordinator, transitioned into the role of Lead Nutrition Coach. Her consistency, care, and passion for helping members brought the framework to life.
By enrolling in HSN Mentoring, the team gained the systems, resources, and mentorship to take what Nikki started and build it into a personalized, habit-based nutrition coaching program, one designed to help members succeed long after a challenge ends.
👉 Don’t miss your chance to do the same! The next Gym Accelerator Summit, powered by Healthy Steps Nutrition is May 1st-3rd 2026 in Frisco, Texas. This live event is designed for gym owners and coaches who want to grow beyond fitness and create professional health-focused coaching programs.

What Changed In The First 3 Months Since Launching Their Habit-Based & Health-Focused Coaching Program

In just three months, Fit Body Boot Camp Louisville has completely restructured its nutrition program:
  • Transitioned members into personalized 1:1 coaching
  • Weekly check-ins with Amanda
  • Ongoing support with their nutrition coach
  • Gave clients access to the HSN App with videos, checklists, and habit tracking
  • Implemented monthly InBody scans for accountability and progress tracking
  • Aligned all staff with consistent nutrition messaging
Some members chose not to transition, but those who did are thriving.

“The people who converted are thriving because there’s a more personalized approach focusing on habits. I have a pulse on everyone now, and I can follow up with them. I love how much more one-on-one we’re able to be.”

Early Wins: A Culture Shift Around Nutrition

Since revamping their nutrition program with Healthy Steps Nutrition Mentoring, nutrition has quickly become part of the culture at Fit Body Boot Camp Louisville—even in the early stages of launching:
  • Every weekly staff meeting includes a nutrition update
  • Cool-downs after classes often highlight nutrition and healthy habits
  • Staff use Slack to track who’s currently in nutrition coaching
  • Wins are celebrated weekly across all three locations
  • Flyers around the gym with QR codes to chat with Amanda about nutrition coaching

This alignment has erased confusion and boosted staff confidence:
“Coaches are trusting the process, and that’s built their confidence to work with me for nutrition.” – Amanda
“Now, it’s given staff confidence and erased the confusion about nutrition.” – Nikki

Integrating Nutrition Into New Member Onboarding

At Fit Body Boot Camp Louisville, nutrition is no longer an afterthought; it’s built into onboarding from day one.
During new member orientations, Nikki introduces both fitness and nutrition as essential to long-term success. Every member completes an InBody scan and receives a habit-tracking sheet to begin building consistency right away.
To keep members engaged, they’re encouraged to bring back their completed tracker for a free InBody scan. Amanda then follows up personally, asking:
  • “What habit will you be focusing on over the next four weeks?”
  • Offering additional support via text or phone calls
This onboarding process ensures that every member sees nutrition and fitness as inseparable parts of the same journey.

Meet Amanda Young, Nutrition Coach

Coach Amanda’s passion for nutrition and wellness grew from a family history marked by chronic illness, cancer, and autoimmune disease. Determined to change her family’s health trajectory, she began with local 5Ks and later found strength and confidence after joining Fit Body in 2017.
Going through early menopause at 45 sparked a deeper interest in the connection between nutrition and long-term health. With mentorship from Nikki, Amanda discovered her calling in helping others transform their lives through sustainable habits and personalized support.
As an HSN nutrition coach, Amanda loves witnessing the moment healthy habits “click” for clients—especially the non-scale wins that build confidence and lasting change. She values making clients feel seen, heard, and supported while giving them ownership of their journey.
HSN has empowered her with resources, structure, and confidence so she can focus on coaching, mentoring, and making an impact within Fit Body and the community she serves.
