When was the last time you spent a weekend working on your business with leaders in the industry and peers?
Every year, Healthy Steps Nutrition focuses on three big initiatives to move the mission and vision forward.
For the past two years, one of these initiatives is intentional opportunities for gym owners and coaches to deepen the connection and community. This is achieved through live events.
The primary goal of live events hosted by HSN Mentoring is to provide gym owners, managers, and coaches with an opportunity to learn from the experts and connect with like-minded fitness professionals so they leave inspired to make a greater impact in their communities.
Here are the top five reasons you should plan to attend a live business event for gym owners in 2023:
#1 Learn From The Experts
Plenty of information is out there, but how do you know what’s right for the stage you are in your business?
The best way to fast-track your business success and growth trajectory is to learn mistakes to avoid and best practices to implement from experts who are a few (or many) steps ahead of you in your business. When organizing events, we bring speakers that will provide exceptional value no matter where you are in your business.

Are you looking to grow a nutrition team?
I will discuss how to grow a rockstar nutrition team at the the FitPro Growth Summit Precon, The Gym Accelerator Summit & The CrossFit Affiliate Summits (in DC, Ohio, Kansas City & Raleigh).
Hiring and training a nutrition coach is the #1 thing that holds gym owners back from building a successful nutrition coaching program. Not all coaches make great nutrition coaches; you must understand the characteristics that make a great nutrition coach to identify the right fit to support the role!
At Healthy Steps Nutrition Mentoring, we recommend adding a nutrition coach to support the role within 3-4 months of launching your program. We recommend launching with two nutrition coaches if you have more than 250 members.
#2 Connect With Like-Minded Fitness Professionals
I attended my first gym owner conference in 2016 as a speaker. I wasn’t a gym owner at the time, but we planned to open our CrossFit affiliate in a few short months.
The most valuable part of that event was connecting with the gym owners who were also in attendance. I leaned on them throughout the year to ask questions so that I could learn from people who were a few steps ahead of me.
I attended that conference for the next four years; my favorite part was our annual reunion and the early morning coffee or evening glass of wine to wrap up the day.
As a gym owner, you feel like you are on an island; these events allow you to connect with like-minded professionals to help you realize while we are serving different areas of the world, we are all in this together.
#3 Expand Your Reach Through Partnerships & Employee Wellness To Make A Greater Impact
As a gym owner, I do not have unlimited funds to spend on advertising and marketing. We lean on local partnerships and referrals as the primary source of referrals for our business.
As a gym owner, you need to become hyper-locally relevant so that people see your business and hear your name regularly. Maybe it’s at a local restaurant you’ve partnered with to highlight healthy options on their menu or a local doctor’s office referring patients to you to help prevent chronic disease.
Are you looking to expand into partnerships and employee wellness?
At the Gym Accelerator Summit, we will provide a framework that has been tested and proven at Healthy Steps Nutrition H.Q. and 100+ gyms worldwide. Then you can talk to gym owners and coaches who have done it and hear their tips and tricks to save time and not reinvent the wheel.
#4 Connect With Industry Experts
“Your network is your net worth.” — Porter Gale
One of the most powerful things you can do at in-person events is to connect with industry experts and mentors. You never know when you can help or lean on someone you’ve connected with at live events for help.
One of the best parts of these type of events are the after-hours conversations and meetings that you set up around the conference. Are you looking to connect with fellow nutrition coaches or gym owners? Reach out to see who is attending and ask them to grab a cup of coffee before or after the meeting starts.
