Meghan and the Loop Fitness Nutrition Team have done an amazing job building nutrition into a core offering in their business.
They only signed up with HSN Mentoring five months ago. Now, their nutrition program is booming, bringing in over 8% of their monthly revenue.
Read what she had to say about the training and how adding nutrition has impacted their business.
You told Mentor Emily that things are “CRAZY GOOD,” can you explain what that means and what lead to your success?
I never expected the nutrition program to grow so quickly post-launch. The best part is I don’t feel overwhelmed because the system is so efficient. I personally handle 20 clients and my new nutrition coach has 4. There is no way I could have handled that load prior to HSN and still keep my sanity. I think what has led to the success is that clients are seeing real results fast. It is simple and easy to adjust to personal preferences. The other thing is we bit the bullet and purchased the In-Body machine which was a game-changer.
We took the financial risk just praying that it would pay off and it did!!
You had 63 participants in your nutrition challenge- How did you attain that many signups? How did your conversion after the challenge go?
I did everything the 6 weeks prior to launch told me to do, from when/how to post on social media, send out emails, push the challenge in classes etc. It seriously wasn’t rocket science and that’s what I loved about it. It told me what to do and I did it. The conversion after the challenge wasn’t great. That was our biggest downfall. We didn’t talk enough about the challenge being a starting point. If I could go back I would emphasise this much more! We only converted 27% and we were hoping for at least 50%. So we will push in January to try and convert them now that they have had a few months on their own.
How has adding nutrition coaching to your facility affected your gym?
Before we started with HSN I was just doing nutrition coaching on my own. I had less than 10 clients and was burning out because I didn’t have an efficient system in place. Once starting with HSN, we decided to start with a 28-day challenge to show our members and the community the new resources but also to reinforce that nutrition is essential to overall health (which we never pushed before this…). We are having so many more conversations about nutrition in the gym, but I am also walking into people in the community and they are commenting to me about how they love the emails I have been sending out and they are “almost ready” to come in. So people are starting to see us as nutrition experts and I love that!
If you could give advice to a gym owner or nutrition coach running a nutrition program what would it be?
The ultimate key to success is honesty, caring, listening and having the education/background to confidently help anyone. Once you have that, then it’s all about efficiency and how to handle many clients at the same time. The HSN app is amazing to the point that I meet with a client, and then enter in all their data and messages right away, so from there all I have to do is answer any questions that may pop up during the month. I’m not worrying about remembering to check in because it’s already scheduled. HSN has it figured out and all you need to do is follow their template.
Where do you see the program in 3 months?
Currently, our nutrition program is 8% of our revenue. In three months we will be 10-15%. I am no longer taking any new clients (my new nutrition coach will take over the newbies) because I am going to focus on Corporate Nutrition and getting out into the community. I already have a 3-month contract with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for the first quarter of 2020 and my goal is to talk with our members about getting into their places of work and providing seminars or challenges.
